As the Industry SuperFund for people in transport, TWUSUPER has a clear interest in a healthy Australian transport and logistics sector.
This extends to understanding industry demographics, changing work patterns and future projections. This is why we commissioned Dr Jim Stanford and Matt Grudnoff from The Centre for Future Work at the Australia Institute, to develop a report to explore the industry now and in the future.
A key consideration was how advances in automation, machine-learning and platforms that enable ‘gig’ work may impact the industry and drive changes across business and employees.
This report will help TWUSUPER understand its members and employers in the future and tailor products and services.
Dr Jim Stanford, Economist and Director, The Centre for Future Work at the Australia Institute
Matt Grudnoff, Senior Economist, The Centre for Future Work at the Australia Institute
The report describes an $80 billion GDP (value-added) industry employing some 625,000 Australians and on the cusp of change. Some parts of the transport industry are more immune to change than others – so the report provides insights into the technology and overlay of social acceptance and policy that can shape the future.
For anyone with a stake in the future of transport, the report is essential reading.
