New investment options

Our investment menu just got better

TWUSUPER’s investment menu just got a whole lot better, with the addition of two new investment options from 27 September 2021 – Conservative and Moderate. Members can now choose from up to five different investment options – or a combination of them – when deciding how to invest their super.

In addition to two new investment options, the Fund’s Equity Plus investment option has been renamed High Growth (note, no other changes have been made to this investment option).

These changes mean our investment menu now looks like this:

Why are these changes being made?

For many years, the Fund has offered members three investment options – and this simple, straightforward approach has worked well.

However, it has become recently apparent that there was an opportunity to enhance our investment menu by providing more options lying between our Cash Plus and Balanced (MySuper) investment options.

Recent record low interest and inflation rates have now made that change even more compelling. With assets such as cash and fixed interest providing only modest returns, our Cash Plus investment option has not always performed as we would normally expect. This is an issue affecting all superannuation funds, not just TWUSUPER.

The two new investment options provide more conservative investors with more choice and makes investing more simple – for example, members can avoid the need to combine the Cash Plus investment option with the Balanced (MySuper) investment option.*

Who might the Conservative investment option suit?

The Conservative investment option may suit members who want to invest for over 3 years or more and accept a low to medium level of risk and fluctuations in returns. The investment risk is low to medium and the minimum suggested investment timeframe is 3 years or more.

Who might the Moderate investment option suit?

The Moderate investment option may suit members who want to invest for over 5 years or more and accept a medium level of risk and fluctuations in returns. The investment risk is medium and minimum suggested investment timeframe is 5 years or more.

How can I switch into the new investment options?

You can change (or switch) investment options up to once a week and there are no fees for switching. To switch investment options:
